Anthropic's (ANTH.PVT) leaked IPO prospectus had some shocking — perhaps even terrifying — things to say about artificial intelligence.
The company formally warned investors that its technology may pose "existential risks to humanity," according to a report that cited sources with knowledge of the prospectus.
One veteran analyst viewed Anthropic's risk-laden disclosures as creating more headwinds for the industry.
"I continue to view this as kind of a shocker risk relative to what I believe [will happen]," Yorkville Ives partner and longtime tech analyst Dan Ives said on Yahoo Finance's Sozzi Unleashed. "I do think there's some alarmism that's going on here as well."
The alleged financial results fall under the "shocker" column too.
Anthropic saw its 2025 sales surge 1,088% to $4.59 billion, according to a late Monday report from Reuters, which saw the company's IPO prospectus. An official filing has not been made public yet.

Anthropic lost $41.97 billion last year on a GAAP net basis, up from a loss of $8.31 billion in 2024.
"I think Anthropic is the heart and lungs of the AI revolution," Ives said. "And that goes for OpenAI as well."
"I view it as you are essentially building out a new economy over the next 10 years," he added.
